Sullenburger's daughter, contacted by FOXNews.com Thursday night, declined to confirm details about her father, though TMZ reports that he is a former Air Force flight leader and training officer who flew F-4s from 1973 to 1980.
The celebrity Web site reported he served as a blue force mission commander in red flag exercises and spent years as an Air Line Pilots Association Local Air Safety chairman, accident investigator and national technical committee member.
During this time, Sullenburger reportedly participated in several NTSB investigations of large-scale plane accidents.
