Federal investigators were at the scene of a single-engine plane crash near Butte, Mont., Sunday that killed 14 to 17 people, officials said.

Earlier reports indicated the crash killed 17 people but the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday evening that a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said the number was between 14 and 17.

Doctors at Arizona's Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale believe the taco contained Taenia solium, a parasite that is surprisingly common in Latin American countries, and is often transmitted by eating undercooked pork.

Molly Bee, the country singer who shot to fame at age 13 with the 1952 novelty hit "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus," has died of complications following a stroke. She was 69.

Bee died Saturday at a hospital in Oceanside, her manager, Rick Saphire, told The Associated Press. She had been in failing health for several months, Saphire said Wednesday.

Bee was just 10 when she started her music career, singing the Hank Williams classic "Lovesick Blues" on country star Rex Allen's radio show. He had met her and her mother at one of his concerts and was impressed when she sang a song for him.

Seismologist at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, N.Y., says a quake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.0 was recorded at 10:34 p.m. Monday, centered in the Morris County communities of Rockaway, Dover and Morris Plains.

Murder has once again come to the campus of Virginia Tech. This time, one person is dead and another in custody, and the weapon used was a knife. This took place inside the Graduate Life Center and police say there were several witnesses. University officials say it happened in a very public place, a cafe on the first floor. Campus police got the call just after 7:00. They say when they got to the scene, they saw a woman graduate student who lived in the GLC, lying on the floor -- dead. They say a man, also a graduate student, was nearby. They say it was clear to the officers that he was responsible and he did not resist arrest. Tech Spokesman Larry Hincker says he sent 30,000 to 40,000 emails and text messages through the VT alerts system. He says there were no problems getting the alerts out instructing people to stay away.

FDA, CDC: Don't Eat Products Containing Peanut Butter

The FDA and CDC are recommending that consumers not eat products containing peanut butter (such as cookies, crackers, cereal, candy, and ice cream) until information becomes available about whether those products are linked to an ongoing salmonella outbreak that may have contributed to six deaths.

At least 474 people in 43 states have been sickened by the outbreak strain of Salmonella typhimurium. Peanut butter has been associated with the outbreak. Peanut butter and peanut paste made by the Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) at a facility in Blakely, Ga., have already been recalled in the wake of the outbreak.

On January 16, the FDA asked food makers nationwide to check whether their peanut-containing products include a recalled peanut paste made by PCA and to recall or hold those products as a precaution.

Ricardo Montalban, the suave leading man who was one of the first Mexican-born actors to make it big in Hollywood and who was best known for his role as Mr. Roarke on TV's "Fantasy Island," has died. He was 88.

Montalban died Wednesday morning at his Los Angeles home of complications related to old age, said his son-in-law, Gilbert Smith.

Within the entertainment industry, Montalban was widely respected for his efforts to create opportunities for Latinos, although he and others believed that his activism hurt his career. In 1970, he founded the nonprofit Nosotros Foundation to improve the image and increase employment of Latinos in Hollywood.

His single-engine plane continued flying on autopilot and eventually crashed late Sunday more than 200 miles away in a swampy area of the Florida Panhandle.

Marcus Schrenker, whose financial management companies, Heritage Wealth Management Inc., Heritage Insurance Services Inc. and Icon Wealth Management, were under investigation.

A strong earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.1 on the Richter Scale, shook Costa Rica on Thursday, 08th Jan. 2009.

No immediate reports of casualties or damage to property.

According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake was centred about 35 kilometres underground and 35 kilometres north of Costa Rican capital San Jose, where the tremor was strongly felt.

The earthquake took place at 1:21 pm (1921 GMT) and caused widespread panic in San Jose, with residents rushing out of shaking buildings.

CDC : Salmonella outbreak sickens 388 across U.S.

An outbreak of salmonella food poisoning has made 388 people sick across 42 states, sending 18 percent of them to the hospital.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is trying to trace the source of the outbreak, which began in September. The Department of Agriculture, state health officials and the Food and Drug Administration are also involved.

The CDC said poultry, cheese and eggs are the most common source of this particular strain, known as Salmonella typhimurium.
